The private tuition sector has been expanding rapidly over the past 20 years. Having a tutor has become the norm as more families access private tuition services. There is now a wide range of tuition options available, from individual tutors working independently to large companies who provide tutors who have registered with them.
For many parents, it can be quite a difficult task to choose a tuition company that is right for you and your child. This article outlines why Top Class Tuition is different to other tuition providers.
Nurturing a love of learning
The best teachers are those who can inspire hope and ignite children’s imaginations. Good teachers
support students to view learning as a process, focussing not only on what to learn but how to
learn.
As my students become more confident in their own ability to gain academic skills, they
not only achieve better test results, but embark on a lifelong love of learning.

Identifying your child’s strengths and interests
One of my most important qualities is that I am dedicated to providing a top class tuition service. I always take the time to get to know families and students. The initial personal meeting is an opportunity to find out as much as I can about your child, including their personality, interests, achievements as well as any areas for improvement. In my experience, having a positive rapport with my students is as important as the teaching itself.
Providing a high quality tuition service
During the past 20 years, I have had opportunities to support over 1000 students in building their confidence in the core subjects of Maths and English. I have seen how much of a positive impact that private tuition has made to students when delivered in a professional and engaging way.
It has been immensely rewarding to see my students grow in confidence in their abilities which then results in higher test scores at school. Here are just some examples:
Peter, aged 6, was struggling with his Maths so his Mum decided to employ a tutor to help to prepare him to pass the entrance tests to Lyndhurst Independent school. Within a few months of weekly, engaging Maths lessons, he began to enjoy Maths and gained a place at this prestigious school.
Damien, aged 10, was falling behind in English lessons due to behaviour issues, often being sent out of his classroom to avoid distracting other students. His Dad decided he would benefit from some extra lessons in spelling and reading, after he achieved below average scores in school tests. After 3 years of a consistent, structured spelling programme and reading lessons, Damien achieved a grade 5 in the Year 9 English Test and went on to achieve his dream job as an RAF pilot.
Kelly, aged 19, was struggling with her GCSE level Maths while completing a BTEC in Health and Social Care. Brought up in Zambia, and moving to England to study to become a teacher, she achieved a grade 1 at the start of the course in September. After 8 months of tuition, she achieved a grade 4, which enabled her to study a Bachelor of Education degree at Lincoln University. She then began her chosen career as a teacher in Zambia.
A local tuition service
Many tuition companies operate on a large, corporate scale, where the referral process is managed by a third party.
This can make it more difficult for parents to receive a direct, personalised tuition service.
Due to the unsettling impact of Covid, the Ukranian invasion and economic issues, parents are particularly concerned about employing a professional tutor who they know can trust to deliver an educational benefit to their child.
Along with all local education providers, I see it as my responsibility to help ensure that students are given the best possible chance to reach their maximum learning potential and fulfil their dreams.
